Say it isn’t so Willis. Mr. McGahee, you have been so successful all season long and then you suffered a fractured right hand during the October 23rd game against the Miami Dolphins and you were projected to be out for 2-3 weeks. This shook team Kibbles and Vick up a little bit being that we don’t have the strongest running backs this season. Hell, I kept a wide receiver from last season and then picked another one in the first round, and we all know Roddy White is these days, racking up single digit points on team Underoath. Looking back, maybe I should’ve snatched up Ray Rice or Michael Turner in the first round but that is neither here nor there. McGahee’s injury is what ultimately forced the trade of Roddy White for Pittsburg running back Rashard Mendenhall who has been solid. However, McGhee’s injury was for sure a blow to the team. He had be ruled out for at least 3 weeks and placed on my IR(injured reserve.) Watching the health of your fantasy football players could be considered somewhat obsessive. Going into Sundays game against Oakland he was ruled as probable so I was forced to pull him out of IR, place him on my bench and start Danny Woodhead. Wouldn’t you know it. About 37 minutes before the game he was ruled active and had one of the best games of the season. He had 20 carries for 163 yards with 2 touchdowns. I couldn’t believe my eyes. McGahee alone was the glue that sealed the deal for me in week 9. I lost by 15 and if I would have started him I would have been victorious by one lonely point and been sitting pretty, in playoff contention with a 5-4 record. You can believe I will be starting him week 10, and doing a bit of house keeping as well. Although my blog posts are beginning to sound like a movie soundtrack with a song on repeat,(another Kibbles and Vick loss in week 9), I still have a chance to pull through in these next 4 weeks and slide right into the playoffs. Losing to Billy Harper owner of team Underoath and our league manager left a bitter taste in my mouth as he vowed to beat me the moment I sent in my league buy in. Now it’s Wednesday and time to move on. Week 10 begins early this week with the return of the Thursday night games. The next few weeks of line-ups are very critical. The waivers and trades don’t open up until Wednesday and since games start Thursday there will be a lot of quick decisions made by every team. While there are two solid teams with guaranteed playoff spots the rest of us 10 will be fighting for one each week. This is the kind of stuff that makes fantasy football so fun, you never know what is going to happen and the suspense is what makes it so fun.
