Unfortunately I suffered another tough loss in week 7 of my fantasy football league. This was the one week, well besides week 11, where I thought I would struggle. My defense as well as 3 of my starting players were on a bye this week and that means another round of moving, trading and claiming on the waiver. Having 6th spot to claim a player almost guarantees I won’t ever get the guys I want. With the entire NFL suffering so many injuries I was forced to start and pick up people I didn’t want just to have a full roster. Starting Dallas Clark in my tight end spot was about as enjoyable as scraping ice off my car window, at night, when it’s 5 degrees. He is absolutely worthless this season but just to prove a point to others in my league I won’t drop him.
Sunday was pretty boring for me as most of my players were playing in the night game and I was going to be devoting most of the night to the Cardinals game. For those of you who live under a rock, our home town team is playing in the World Series this year. Anyways, back to football. Kibbles and Vick (that is my team name, sorry to any who are offended) was projected to win in week 7 by 12 points. We all know, projections are great but they aren’t always correct. To top it off, Arian Foster, running back for the Houston Texans went full on beast mode Sunday and had 115 rushing yards including to touchdowns and 119 receiving yards with one touchdown. A stellar day to say the least and 45 point later he made sure team Crysus would be killing it as of 4pm Sunday.
There is always hope, I didn’t have so much being down 104 points going into the night game and with only 4 people left to play. My hope came in the form of Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints Quarterback. Having one of the best games of his career he carried me from getting slaughter to just getting beat by double-digit points. Brees had no interceptions and threw for 325 yards with 5 touchdowns giving me 45 points, cancelling out Fosters points from earlier. Colston and Ingram both had solid nights as well combining for 40 points. You might wonder, where was Dallas Clark in all of this? The Saints were playing the Colts and while he was out on the field I began to wonder, is there an imposter in number 44 uniform, could DC really be out eating at the local Ruby Tuesday? I’m sure he was, he played the entire game and didn’t get one single point, not one. He can visit all the local eateries he wants over the next 9 weeks because he will never come off my bench. Am I bitter about the loss, yes, will I let if bother me over the next week, probably not. Cardinals pitching is what has really been bothering me as of late. It is time to turn it around in week 8, make my comeback and sit atop of Drew Brees’s shoulders as he carries me into the playoffs.
