Since my last blog posts weeks 2 and 3 in my IPFK Fantasy Football league have passed. The last 14 days have been somewhat of a roller coaster. All twelve of us owners saw more upsets, more exceptional play, and once again more injured players who we will most like sent to the IR or even drop from our teams altogether.
So as we prepare for week 4 and the bye weeks start to set in, I feel there are quite a few owners who are ready to shake things up as far as trading players and putting in bids for picking up available players off the waivers. Before I can begin to discuss predictions for week 4 I must consider all that has occurred in weeks 2 and 3.
For me, week 2 started off pretty mediocre, I mean, with everything else I had going on in life I completely forgot to check out overall stats, pick up off the waivers, and replace those, with all due respect, horrible point accumulators, with guys off my bench who seemed to come alive week 1. All bad decision making aside I really though I had a shot until Miles Austin of the Dallas Cowboys and team Egg-Rollers had a mind-boggling performance at San Fran and scored an massive 41 points. While those 41 points sealed my fate week 2 we see where Miles Austin ended up week 3, the bench. Continuing to deal with a knee and hamstring injury, Austin sat on the Cowboys bench and in the typical fashion of what goes around comes around now sealed the fate for the Egg-Rollers, and taking them from first place to fourth in the overall standings.
I came back week 3 focused. I declined all trade offers, gave some players on my team the boot, goodbye Brandon Tate, and spent most of Saturday sick to my stomach knowing I would have to start Dallas Clark as Aaron Hernandez was out with an injury. Clark is usually unstoppable but since the Colts are now without Manning the offense has no flipping clue how to score a touchdown. Good thing for me, I have the Colts kicker. I watched in horror as the Devil Dogs put up over 70 points in the late game. It did not matter though as the New England Patriots Gods were on my side and for the 3rd week in a row Wes Welker came through with yet another record setting performance. This brings me back to my question in my last blog…….how did Welker become so good after a possible career ending injury?????
As it stands now I sit in 2nd place in overall standings. The next 3 weeks for my should be tough. Not only do I play 3 excellent players, 3 guys who have been in this league from the beginning, 3 guys who subscribe to fantasy football magazines (nerds) but 3 of my good friends who swore they would never lose to a girl. It is shaping up to be a fun 21 days full of good old fashion trash talking. Just a quick reminder fellas, the princess will shall prevail!
