With the Thanksgiving holiday being over I thought I would recap week 12 and discuss what I was most thankful for with my team. Yes I was thankful to spend time with my family, shop on Black Friday, and eat mounds of delicious food but since we are getting down to the wire for playoff spot, I was very thankful that Kibbles and Vick pulled out a huge victory, beating team P-Unit, 141-101, and their coach Patrick for the 2nd time this season. With only one week left until the playoffs begin it will be another nail biter as I fight for the win and a guaranteed spot in the playoffs. I would like to take the time to thank all those that contributed to a Kibbles and Vick triumph.
Chargers Defense: While it may sound funny that I would be mentioning them I am thankful that I chose to start them in place of the Eagles defense. They managed to score me a whopping 2 points but if you look at them compared to the Eagles D on my bench who managed to rack up -7, yes folks, MINUS 7 points the Chargers D definitely shined.
Dallas Cowboy Kicker, Dan Bailey: This guy doesn’t even have a photo up on the ESPN fantasy site for crying out loud and yet he still managed to get me 8 points in a Cowboys win over Miami on Thanksgiving Day. Could they get this guy a profile photo sometime? Even I have a profile pic on the league site.
Denver Broncos Running Back, Willis McGahee: I cannot believe I am giving this man thanks. After a three-week run, scoring only 2 total points, yes 2, he finally came through for me Sunday and rushed for 117 yards and put 11 points on the board. It was McGahee’s 24 yard run in overtime that gave Denver the overtime game winning field goal over the San Diego Chargers. It’s about time McGahee turned up the heat.
New England Patriots Tight End, Aaron Hernandez: With the Patriots dominating Sunday in Philadelphia, Hernandez was solid again for the Pats. Tom Brady has the option to successfully throw to anyone of the Patriots offense and Hernandez along with fellow Tight End Rob Gronkowski see to split the TE points evenly. Hernandez put up 12 points today on 6 receptions for 62 yards. Side note, Gronkowski had 15 points which goes along with the splitting of the points.
New England Patriots Wide Receiver, Wes Welker: I cannot say enough great things about this guy. He may be the most monotone guy you’ve ever heard but he’s funny, he’s short, and he is one of the best receivers in the NFL this season. He always puts his best foot forward. While Welker only had 8 catches tonight he had 115 reception yards and 2 touchdowns. He is the most consistent fantasy receiver out there and you’d have crazy not to want this guy on your team.
I am thankful I had Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver Antonio Brown, Running Back Rashard Mendenhall and Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Dwayne Bowe all playing in the Sunday nights Steelers/Chiefs game. The 3 combined for 31 points which put me only down 4 points going into Monday Night Football. Welcome to a winning team Dwayne, I know you couldn’t be more happier.
I am thankful each week for my Quarterback Drew Brees from the New Orleans Saints. He only need to pass for 50 yards or score one passing touchdown to give me the victory week 12 and set me up for the playoff push week 13. Brees was off the chain Monday night. He passed for 363 yards and had 5 touchdowns, one of which he ran into the end zone himself. While I only needed 5 points out of him to get the win he put up 44 and led his Saints over the New York Giants 49-24.
Since games begin again on Thursday it is that time again. Set my lineup, check projections, double-check my bench players and make sure there isn’t anyone I want to claim off the waiver. After a week of play Kibbles and Vick had this week I think it is safe to say, no changes need to be made. That candy like taste has yet to leave my mouth because victory is so sweet.
