Drew Brees did a complete 180 from week 7 to week 8 and almost cost me my game. Maybe the Rams received some luck from the one team in St. Louis who is worth a damn, the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals, because they ran all over the New Orleans Saints Sunday. While good for Rams fans and anyone dumb enough to have the Rams defense on their fantasy football team, it couldn’t have been any worse for those who start anyone from the Saints. I am one of those people with 4 players on my team and while one was a dud for the week the other was a stud. Here is the breakdown of my highlights and lowlights of week 8. The Tom Brady/Wes Welker connection remains solid this year so my hat is off to you again Wes, you continue to carry my team in points. STUDS Antonio Brown, Wide Receiver, Pittsburgh Steelers. With 9 receptions, 67 yards and 1 touchdown he easily laid down 21 points for Kibbles and Vick (my team). The touchdown was a quick 7 yard pass from QB Ben Roethlisberger who I imagine was picturing Brown as any type of fast food. I feel that when he does this it is when he succeed which is good for me as Brown has had two successful weeks for Kibbles and Vick since I picked him up of the waivers and put him in a starting position. Rashard Mendenhall, Running Back, Pittsburgh Steelers. Mendy got me into the double digits this week with 70 rushing yards and 22 receiving yards for 12 points and hey, that was just as many points as Drew Brees got me this week, 55 less than the week before. Mendy is a player you can always count on. Like Brown, being thought of by “Big Ben” as food has really come through for me have two stellar weeks as well. It’s amazing what your fantasy football team will do for you once you put your feelings aside and pick up people who can get the job done. All comments regarding Ben Roethlisberger are solely based on my own opinion that he sits around and eats Big Macs in the off-season. There is no proof of this. Duds The Saints, all around. I chose not to bless them with a picture and instead put up one of St. Louis Rams Defensive End Chris Long. Not only did the Rams Offense play above average their defense shocked everyone in existence by stopping the Saints, holding them to only 21 points, even hanging on for the win. I don’t think anyone was as shocked as Drew Brees or quite frankly me. He was intercepted twice, sacked 6 times and 3 of those sacks came from Chris Long. I am still in disbelief as I type this. For a team with players you can always count on for a lot of points, (The Saints) really dropped the ball this week. Danny Woodhead, Running Back, New England Patriots. Coming back off injury in week 5 and having more rest on the week 7 bye week, we started to see the DW we all love. He small, he’s sneaky, and with BJGE out for New England he was sure to take the majority of the Pats running yards Sunday. WRONG! This guy didn’t even get me a darn point. New England went up against a tough Steelers defense in week 8 and I was the one who suffered most of all. Danny Woodhead’s stats, 0 attempts, 0 receptions, 0 rushing yards for 0 points. Now that week 8 is behind me I shall move forward. With no-one on a bye for me this week I will be moving a lot of players around. While projections can often be wrong it is fantasy football and you never know who is going to have good week. Did I mention I am still in shock with this St. Louis Rams win over the Saints?? |
