Sorry for the slight delay in my blog but I am still having a tough time wrapping my hands and brain for that matter around the shellacking I received in Week 2. It’s almost not even worth mentioning mostly because I’m embarrassed but even more so it makes my level of stress fly through the roof thinking about what in the hell I am going to do to bounce back from a 120-42 beating from the Devil Dogs. That’s a 78 point loss, the highest in IPFK League history. While I am all about making history and being the center of attention this wasn’t how I had pictured it. Denim Chicken was yet again plagued with poor play but the most devastating factor, or should I say factors, was the loss of two key players early in the first quarter of their respective games. Let’s look at the injuries before I get all fired up about the terrible performances.
Ahmad Bradshaw (RB NY Giants) left the game early in the first half Sunday with a neck injury. He only had time to have 5 attempts for 16 yards and 1 stinking point before heading to the locker room. This was a far cry from Week 1 when Bradshaw had 17 attempts, 78 yards, a TD, 2 receptions with 15 receiving yards and solid 16 points for Denim Chicken. It remains to be seen when AB will return, he is scheduled for an MRI on his neck Monday morning, but he is sure to be out Week 2 as the Giants have only a three day break before heading to Carolina to take on Cam Newton and the Panthers. With AB being a huge force in the Giants running game, and 3rd back Andre Brown getting most of the action once Bradshaw left the game he is sure to get the bulk of the handoffs Thursday and should be on top of your radar for a waiver claim, he’s definitely on mine.
Aaron Hernandez (TE New England Patriots) left the game early in the first quarter Sunday with an ankle injury. This is a huge blow to not only my team but to the Pats offense as well. But we all know Belichick and he will figure out a way to run the offense. Hernandez didn’t manage to catch a single pass before leaving the game when he was injured while blocking for fellow teammate Julian Eddelman. Hernandez had no receptions or yards, a total 180 from the previous week, 6 receptions for 59 yards and a TD putting 17 points up on the board for Denim Chicken. Knowing the Pats style it is sure to be hush-hush about the extent of AH’s injury but we can expect to see him out for at least 2-4 weeks. Since New England relies heavily on a schemed offensive strategy vs. just choosing one player to go to things should get very interesting when the Pats head to Baltimore. These two teams are known for their heated rivalry and without Hernandez, Ray Lewis and the Ravens D will being coming hard for (Tom) Brady and his bunch.
Knowshon Moreno (RB Denver Broncos) and Mike Tolbert (RB Carolina Panthers) your days are numbered on team Denim Chicken and Week 3 should see you both sent packing. Marcades Lewis (TE Jacksonville Jaguars), Laurent Robinson (WR Jacksonville) and James Jones (WR Green Bay Packers) there isn’t room for both so Week 3 will also be the last for you here. With that being said, I have got a lot of planning to do, some of the above names will be dropped before I publish this blog. The waiver order can be your best friend or worst enemy so while I have a plan B, you bet your bottom dollar I have a plan C and D as well. Till next week folks!
